1 Grave of the fireflies:

This animated film was published in 1988 based on the semi-autobiography of “Akiyuki Nosaka”; which tells the story of the two little siblings “Seita” and his sister “Setsuko”; who struggle to survive the last few final months of the Second World War after the death of their parents. The story is an epitome of Japanese people’s misery during the War.

Howl’s moving castle is a 2004 Japanese animated fantasy film by Studio Ghibli. The story is taken from the British novel written by “Diana Wynne Jones”, who tells the story of “Sophie”; a young milliner, who encounters wizard names “Howl” on her way to visit her sister. Upon returning home she meets “The Witch of the Waste” who transforms her into a ninety-nine-years old woman. Seeking to break the curse, Sophie leaves home to find “Howl”, who may help her regain her youth.

5 Kiki’s delivery service

Kiki” is a girl who just turned 12 years old, and as is traditional for trainee witches, she has to leave her mother town looking for a new city seeking finding a job there to train her magical skills.

On the night of the full moon; “Kiki” flied on her mother’s broomstick with her cat “Jiji” whom she can understand; and after a long trip, she got to a big city called “Kokiro”.
While flying in the city; she meets “Tombo” a boy fond of her flying ability, and by coincidence, she ends up helping a bakery owner and a heavily pregnant woman who later helps her back; and opens a “Witch delivery business” in her bakery shop.

6 Princess Mononoke:

In “Muromachi” Japan, a village is attacked by a demon. Fortunately, the last Emishi prince “Ashitaka” kills it before it reaches the village, but its corruption curses his right arm. The curse gives him superhuman strength, but will eventually spread through his body and kill him.

So the villagers told him to leave his homeland looking for a cure to his curse; who later meets Princess “Mononoke” a human girl raised by the wolf goddess “Moro”.

7 Castle in the sky:

An airship carrying “Sheeta”; a young orphan girl who has been abducted by government agent “Muska”; is under attack by an old woman called Captain “Dolla” who aims to steal “Sheeta”’s small crystal pendent that has mysterious supper power. As a result of a big fight between the two sides, “Sheeta” falls from the airship.
Thanks to the pendent; her descent was slowed, and she safely lands in a small mining town where she meets the brave orphan boy named “Pazu”; who helps her escape from bad people who are after her.

8 Mary and the witch’s flower:

It tells the story of “Mary Smith” who moved into the northern English country estate near her grand-aunt. One day peter cats lead her to a mysterious glowing flower; the next day was a foggy morning and one of the two cats disappears; while looking for him; the other cat leads “Mary” to a broomstick in the middle of the forest; where she discovers the mysterious magical poser of the glowing flower.
